ENERMAX Aluminum Multifunction Panel (Model "UC-9FATR2")

Founded in 1990 as a company that specialized exclusively in providing components for PC's, Enermax has come from an OEM manufacturer to a leader in high quality power supplies that were the first choice among overclockers everywhere. As far back as 1995, Enermax has always been the synonymous choice among gaming enthusiasts since they have always given us more than the minimum specified output in their power supplies. In 2001, Enermax introduced their line of cases to us all, and despite their questionable looks, they were kind of like the Edsel in being excellent cases, but perhaps a bit ahead of their time from their non-standard design, yet these cases provided the enthusiast more then what they needed including the price. Today Enermax continues to improve their component line-up with the debut of their multifunction panel, which not only has more features than any other multifunction panel around, but still controls your temperatures, and fan RPM's. Let's check out Enermax's new MFP, here at the Club!

Features

The Enermax Multifunction panel comes in a very simple box that is well guarded against shipping damage

The MFP also contains SATA capability, USB 2.0, Temperature sensors, fan RPM cables, and an ATX back panel for external SATA, IEEE1394, and USB devices.

As you can the Enermax MFP has anything and everything you could possibly need. Notice the internal SATA input which basically connects to your motherboard to allow for yet to come external SATA devices.

Here you can clearly see the thermal diodes which work in conjunction with fan RPM threshold as described in our Silverstone Eudemon review located in our archives section here.

Turning the controller around and you can see that its very easy to install and get going to full fan, temperature, and accessory control from the front of your system. Not only does this remove the mess of cables from outside your system, but it makes for a more convenient location to download pictures from your camera or hook up a USB device.

Here is the front side of the Enermax MFP. One of the cool features of the MFP for you case modders out there is that the color of the panel changes as your RPM's go up. This is a feature we have seen lately of a lot of new front panel's, and that's good news for those that are into showing off their system's colors.

Conclusion

The Enermax Multifunction Panel is just as it is described. Although we doubt that the external SATA ports will have any kind of wide spread function in the near future, its nice to see that Enermax has designed their MFP with that in mind. One other consideration is that the MFP is made of very high quality componentry which, if anyone is familiar with Enermax, will maintain its durability and not malfunction causing your system to not have any cooling or temperature monitoring. The Enermax MFP seems to have no faults other than it could be a little harder to install then say a Hardcano 12, but if the user can read the excellent manual, they'll find that its not so overwhelming to install. Enermax also included all the screws, thermal diode tape strips, cables, and other odds and ends so you won't end up spending your time and energy searching for those hard to find items. We can clearly see that the Enermax Multifunction panel is an excellent addition to any system and/or case modder that needs a little bit more than just a simple fan and RPM controller since it combines a lot of everyday items we use into one simple device that is easily accessible, and to use... ClubOC recommended.
