Installation and Performance

Install is best left up to the advanced PC builder. Of course makes it somewhat uncomplicated with a complete set of operating instructions, but adding all the thermal diodes, fan plugs, HD LED, and a 4-pin molex, and how get a lot of wires! OK so many of you may think "what a wimp!". Well ok, its not that hard to install, it just takes some time to make the install look clean. A couple trips to Radio Shack to get some zip-ties and a new pair of wire cutters, and I was ready to begin.

It looks pretty easy, but Kingwin gives you plenty of wire length, so be sure and take advantage of those zip ties! See what happens when the enthusiast gets what he or she wants?

What a jumble, help me I'm drowning!!    Now where did I put those zip ties...

For those with black cases, you'll appreciate the white "blueish" hue of the Thermal Center.

Conclusion

Well you can't really judge performance of a fan controller, or can you? Well lets just say It was very easy to setup, and use. The thermal alarm is somewhat irritating, but a quick adjustment cures that problem. The LCD display definitely adds to the overall look of your system, and the fans always kicked in under load like they are supposed to, so I guess you could say that the Thermal Center doesn't really have any issues or trouble spots. I can see room for improvements though, perhaps a software interface which would allow you to remotely adjust it through Windows, say maybe a quick RPM adjustment for gaming or benchmarking. Overall, the Thermal Center is a big success in my book.

ClubOC gives the Kingwin Thermal Center a definite must buy rating!
