The trend in performance computing component manufacturing has been to provide a quality product that won't increase the noise generated by your PC cooling fans. The typical PC power supply started its life with one fan, and as power demands increased so did the number of fans. Two and even as many as four fans have been installed onto the power supply chassis to keep the internal workings cool. Like everything else computer related, power supply technology has evolved and allowed the use of more rugged and high performance solid state electronics, and many power supply manufacturers are going back to a single-fan chassis design. Instead of a single 80mm fan on the rear of the unit, a 120mm fan has been placed on the bottom of the chassis which is also situated to help promote airflow for the entire computer system.

Cooler Master has added this design to their product offerings, with a 450 Watt unit called the Real Power. As the box top (above) shows, Super Silent is a feature that Cooler Master definitely wants you to know about. The 450 Watt rating may seem a bit low to some folks, but we can literally show you that the supplied power will be more than adequate with the enclosed Human Computer Interface, which is just a really fancy way of saying wattage meter. To add further appeal, the 120mm cooling fan is fitted with blue Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).

The chassis of the real power is constructed from aluminum for better heat dissipation and is given a very typical Cooler Master glossy back finish. As you can see, the 120mm fan is situated behind a fan guard, to protect both the fan and other components in the PC enclosure. There are no special size requirements with the Real Power 450. If your enclosure will accept a typical ATX power supply, then this will install with no problems.
