Out of the box experience...

The Ultra Power Partner came well packed and protected. Unfortunately that didn't prevent apparent damage to the finish at the factory. As you can see in the photos below, the Power Partner we received had numerous scratches in the black finish which appears to have been touched up. Sadly these photos only show a few of the scratches... If the unit we received was a "shared" review unit that gets passed from review site to review site, I could understand the flaws in the finish and not hammer Ultra for it. But this was a brand new, off the shelf unit that was still sealed. I really hate to see things like this, especially in a review unit because it screams out quality control issues at Ultra, not to mention a careless attempt to cover up the flaws with some sort of black marker. This will be a big ding in the quality rating. The only good thing about these scratches is they are on the housing and not on the front cover where everyone could see them. Other than the numerous scratches and dings, the Power Partner appears to be a solidly built power supply with a nice look.

As you can see from the high res photo above, the Ultra Power Partner has great looks and a sleek front cover. Ultra has done a nice job in the aesthetics department.

The Power Partner comes with a nice array of cables to help solve your power needs. Keep in mind that the 25-Pin motherboard connector is a pass through connector (see photo below) to power on the auxiliary unit only.

On the back of the Power Partner you will find a pair of silent cooling fans, a standard voltage selector switch, a rocker power switch, and a power connector. Yes, the Power Partner needs external power so you'll have to rout a power cable through the back of the computer case.
