Packaging and contents

     The PX-810UF comes very well protected with thick foam packing on each end.  It would probably take a good little drop before any damage occurred.

     Along with the drive, a power cord, USB cable, owners guide and driver disc are included.  The driver disc also includes Easy Media Creator 9.  Plex tools is not bundled with the drive, but it's a free download from Plextor's web site.

Layout

     The front of the drive is pretty standard.  One light will show activity and the front also has the eject button and the emergency manual open pin hole.

     The back of the drive has the on/off switch, a USB port, two Firewire ports and the power plug input.  On each side of the back is plastic release mechanisms.  Just slide these inboard and you can remove the aluminum cover.

The bottom of the drive has 4 large rubber feet that will keep the drive securely in place.

On the inside you will just see a standard IDE DVD drive connected to a controller board.

It would have been nice to have a SATA optical drive along with the option of having a eSATA connection.
