The time has come to run a few simple tests on the 48x Lite-On. The test system consists of an AMD Athlon XP 1600+ overclocked to 1.8GHz running on a 166MHz FSB (333MHz DDR). The motherboard is an MSI KT4 Ultra with 512mb of PC3500 Corsair DDR memory. That's pretty much all the info that is necessary... Time to see if the budget 48x Lite-On can live up to it's specs!

The first test is an Audio Speed test using Nero CD Speed.

The average rip speed of the audio disk was 31.27x with the highest being 39.08x. Not bad for audio. Next is a data speed test.

The data speed test was much faster with the average being 35.94x and the highest being 47.37x.
