Vantec Laptop Coolers LPC-301 &
LPC-305
If you've ever used a laptop for an extended amount of time, you know
that they get pretty warm. While this may be fine with you, if you
chase moose in Alaska, it's not that great on your laptop. I have
personally lost a memory expansion slot on my laptop due to heat.
With today's laptops being even more powerful and producing more heat,
cooling is extremely vital. Today we are going to test out a
couple of laptop coolers sent to us from Vantec. We will see what
kind of a difference they can make.
LPC-301
LPC-305
These two laptop coolers are exactly the
same size and shape. The only difference between the two is the
USB ports on the back of the LPC-305. Since the majority of the
coolers are the same, I will show you the common features and then talk
about the differences.
Unlike some laptop
coolers the laptop does not physically attach to the cooler.
The laptop rests on four rubber pads. The rubber provides
enough friction to hold the laptop in place. When you want to
stow the cooler, simply flip the keyboard like tabs to close the
rubber pads.
Likewise, the bottom of
the cooler can be elevated to provide good airflow, and also help
keep you in an ergonomic typing position.
Vantec puts two 70 x 70 x 10.5 mm fans in
each laptop cooler.
Both are ball bearing type fans and have a
variable speed of 1800 - 2600 RPM. You control the speed with this
wheel on the back of the cooler.
Both laptop coolers come with two built-in
storage compartments. These compartments allow you to take the USB
and power cables with you. The power cable is only needed on the
LPC-305 model.
