Kingwin Sound Xtream
Digital Multimedia Player KH-300 Review

USB storage has really become a must have
technology over the last year making it one of the hottest markets out
there. Kingwin has responded with some of the most innovative and
attractive USB enclosures on the market. This week, we take a look at
the Kingwin Sound Xtream. With the Sound Xtream, Kingwin has taken
their USB enclosure success and added a versatile multimedia player
functionality. We take a closer look right here at the Club.

Its no surprise to see Kingwin
provides an attractive product package for the Sound Xtream. Even the
name brings streaming media to mind. This model dubbed KH-300 may be
the first in a line of Kingwin multimedia enclosures.

The KH-300 is available in the
silver shown here on the box and in black. The same silver and black
theme is carried out in the packaging. I was also amused to find the
box closes with a system of hidden magnets to make for easy access and
storage of your Sound Xtream.

The open box reveals the player,
remote and power adaptor as well as a simple users manual. I like the
clever name, but Sound Xtream is not shown in any of the accessories or
the product. The drive is actually labeled Kingwin MP4 DivX Media
Player.

The full compliment of cabling
comes packed along. In addition to the power cables, there are a set of
standard AV cables, a USB cable, a multimedia dongle and an audio
splitter/headphone adapter. The result is coverage for Composite (RCA),
S-Video and VGA video and Stereo two channel sound via the RCA outputs.

The construction of our KH-300 is
simple and solid. The entire enclosure is made from Aluminum alloy
making it lightweight and durable. The two front lights are bright and
simple to understand. My wife even feels the bright blue HDD activity
light is bright enough to use as a night light.

The back shows Kingwin's unique A/V
port, a standard USB port and the 5V/2A DC adapter port. I was a bit
surprised to find a manual power toggle as well. There is a power
button on the remote that makes this switch seem like over kill.

The included remote is quite small
and covers most of the features you would expect from a standard media
device. The menu options are also included for ease of navigation.
