Conclusion........
The Gigabyte G1-Turbo was very quick to please! With very straight
forward settings, I easily achieved a very stable overclock. In
fact, the G1-Turbo was able to hold a stable system at a higher bus
speed than had previously been achieved by the same CPU used in
testing. The only thing official about overclocking is that it will
void your CPU warranty as soon as your save the setting in your
motherboard CMOS, and reboot. Of course, there is no real way to
know if a component has been damaged by overclocking. In theory, a
strong power surge can do the same kind of damage as an overly
aggressive overclock. More often than not, a CPU doesn't burn up and
turn into a smelly column of smoke from overclocking. Instead what
you get with a poor overclock is a very unstable system that can't
reach the Windows desktop or shows the Blue Screen of Death as soon
as you hit the Start button. As with any system, stability is top
priority, and if a motherboard can't hold a system stable while it's
overclocked, than the board is worthless.
Being
integrated with a Sound Blaster Live is a serious bonus for gamers.
Sure, the AC'97 supports most of the major multi-media codec formats.
But the Creative Labs Sound Blaster supports all the codecs that have
become industry standard in 3-D gaming. EAX is very dominant, and
while other cards can emulate it, only the Sound Blaster can truly
deliver. With two open PCI slots, you can even elevate it even further
by stepping into a Sound Blaster X-fi. All in all, Gigabyte has
done things right with the G1-Turbo, that's a fact.
