Gigabyte GA-G1975X  

     Based on the 975X chipset, G1-Turbo is set to support the latest processors from Intel. Other than that, the story is pretty much the same as the 955X chipset. In fact, in a side-by-side comparison of the 955 and 975 chipsets, the only difference you'll see (besides the 975x northbridge) is official support for two PCI Express Graphics slots running in x8 mode. Things brings the ATI Crossfire but not the nVidia SLI mode. Just like many 955 based boards that had two PCI Express video slots, the G1-Turbo is packaged with an SLI bridge for nVidia video cards. But alas, after installing two eVGA 6800GT cards with the bridge in place did not enable the SLI Performance mode in the driver. In fact, that menu header wasn't even displayed. So it seems the nVidia/Intel dispute over SLI is still going strong. Nevertheless, the motherboard is still packed with features.
