Other than the configuration of 2x PCI Express x16 slots, the specifications list is pretty typical for an enthusiast level motherboard. Most of the mechanics of the nForce4 SLI Intel Edition chipset are well known, such as the PCI Express slots effectively being turned into "x8 slots" when you plug in two video cards for SLI mode. The dual-channel memory configuration is also a standard among enthusiasts, going beyond PC-4300 (533MHZ), the nForce4 SLI Intel Edition supports PC-5400 (667MHz). Native Gigabit LAN as well as a secondary PCI Express Gigabit LAN makes this board very attractive for LAN gamers that also share their internet connection. 8 Channel sound is handled by the built-in PC'97 audio codec, which have been fitted with auto plug-sensing drivers.
