Product: Blue Power Supply Cover
Application: Power Supply Mod

Here is the blue acrylic cover with the fan installed.  Next we need to remove the cover from the power supply and install the double sided tape.  You only need two pieces of tape, but four pieces are included in case there is a mistake.  Take my word on this, once the tape touches the acrylic it is on forever.  You can remove it, but it is difficult.

I left the white wax paper on the top side of the tape, so I could trial fit the cover.  Once you are satisfied with the fit and the location of the fan, you can remove the wax paper and install the cover.  Be certain that you are happy with the look and fit before you peel that wax paper.  Once you press down, it will be very difficult to take the cover back off.

Here is the finished product.  The whole process took about 15 minutes.  So, where does the tie-strap come into play?  If you are installing a cover with a fan, like I just did, but the power supply didn't originally come with two fans, you may have to run the wires outside of the power supply.  This would involve cutting a small hole in the blue cover, and running the wires through the cover then tie-strapping the fan wires to the power supply wires.

If your power supply is very snug in your case, consider this.  The thickness of the acrylic cover will add width to your power supply.  It will add approximately 4mm to the width of the power supply.

Conclusion

I do have a concern with this mod.  My concern is the magnetic shielding that you will lose from taking your power supply cover off and replacing it with an acrylic cover.  Different materials provide different shielding.  There is a reason that the power supply is made from metal.  Now, if you have a full size case or a case where the power supply is located away from the rest of your computer parts, you should be save from interference.  If you have a mid-tower or your power supply is located a few inches from your CPU or hard drive, you just might be pushing your luck.  Eventually, there could be some kind of interference from the lack of shielding.

Overall, I liked this mod and it is simple to install.  It really helps your case stand out when you have a window mod.  Also, this is a great mod for beginners and completing this project will help build your confidence.  As of the date of this review, the kit is just $10.95 with a fan hole or $9.95 without a hole.
