Patriot PC3500 2GB Low Latency Kit

     The AMD DDR2 CPU is just around the corner, but that doesn't mean that DDR is dead.  There are still plenty of systems out there using DDR.  As a matter of fact, the top gaming computers are using DDR.  For the next couple of months DDR will be the memory of choice for the top gaming computers.  Over the past year, the amount of memory has become important as well.  Last year, the top gaming PC's were happy with 1GB of memory, this year the trend has moved to 2GB.  This move was prompted by more intense games.  As the games get better the amount of memory needed is going to continue to increase.  The problem with larger amounts of memory has always been latency.  It was hard and expensive to get a good low latency 2GB kit.  Patriot has seen the need for a large dual channel kit that has low latency and has just released this kit.  Let's find out how well this kit will perform.

     Normally we don't talk about package contents with memory, because there aren't any.  However, Patriot includes a fold-out booklet that gives you an installation guide, DRAM timing control and warranty information.

     This is a big plus, because no matter how simple some of you may think installing memory is, I'm sure there are people that don't have a clue and are afraid to ask in a public forum.
