The majority of testing will be done using SiSoft Sandra Pro Business version.  ClubOC has been using SiSoft Sandra for many years now and it's pretty much the main benchmarking program we use for testing memory.

Memory Speed / Bus Speed Timings Int Buff'd Float Buff'd
1600MHz / 1600MHz 7-7-7-18 7507MB/s 7490MB/s
1700MHz / 1700MHz 8-8-8-20 7823MB/s 7729MB/s
1600MHz / 2000MHz 7-7-7-18 9001MB/s 8894MB/s

That extra FSB speed really boosts performance.

Speed Timings Read Write Copy Latency
1600MHz / 1600MHz 7-7-7-18 9007MB/s 7181MB/s 6858MB/s 58.0ns
1700MHz / 1700MHz 8-8-8-20 9405MB/s 7651MB/s 7091MB/s 55.8ns
1600MHz / 2000MHz  7-7-7-18  10149MB/s 9015MB/s 7777MB/s 51.7ns

Everest tests the memory in a bunch of different ways.  That's one of the reasons I like to use it.  Overall, the memory performed alright.  The latency scores are really high, but what can you expect with the memory timings.  Next up is the PCmark05's memory test.

Speed Timings Score
1600MHz / 1600MHz 7-7-7-18  6977
1700MHz / 1700MHz 8-8-8-20 7338
1600MHz / 2000MHz   7-7-7-18   7778

As you can see from the above scores, the memory overclock along with the increased FSB speed improved the overall scores.  Lastly, I'm going to use the 1M test in SuperPi mod 1.5XS.

Speed Timings Score
1600MHz / 1600MHz 7-7-7-18  18.439s
1700MHz / 1700MHz 8-8-8-20 15.381s
1600MHz / 2000MHz   7-7-7-18   14.883s

Conclusion

It was very interesting to test DDR3 for the first time here at the Club.  I was very pleased with the results, but on the other hand it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Testing was favorable, and the DDR3 was able to overcome the high latencies with the increased bus speed.  Just like DDR2 when it first came out, DDR3 will continue to go faster and with tighter timings.  At this point in time, I do not believe you need to make the switch to DDR3 just because it's the newest thing.  However, Patriot does give you some incredible memory.  But in order to play with the incredible memory, you're going to have to shell out a lot of your hard-earned cash because this particular memory kit will set you back about $545.  Regardless, we will not give a product a negative review based on price alone.  As with anything new, if you want the top of the line product, you're going to have to pay for it.  Club Overclocker Recommended.
