Benchmarks:

Now onto the numbers:

SuperPi is a program that calculates the number Pi to a specific number of places.  It is very sensitive to both CPU speeds and memory timings.  SuperPi 1M showed an impressive one second improvement at 275MHz, and 4M showed two seconds improvement while Tras of zero increased performance another second.  I am sure longer iterations of SuperPi would also show bigger performance increases.

PCMark showed some great performance gains.  An increase of 1.3% at 275MHz, and 4% with Tras of zero.  Not bad for a benchmark that takes into account every system component.

Aquamark3 is a benchmark designed to show off the capabilities of the AquaNox game engine.  This benchmark is also very sensitive to CPU and RAM changes. The added bandwidth increased the AquaMark3 CPU score by  2.6%.  Tras adjustments did not seem to make a difference.

Sisoft Sandra is a PC benchmarking utility that has the capability of benchmarking individual components.  Generally I find Sandra exaggerates differences to some degree, lets take a look: the OCZ RAM shows performance gains of 4% in Cache/Memory, 8.6% in the Memory Integer, 8.7% in the Memory Floating Point,  and 4.2% in latency. Amazingly enough, these sticks blow past the 7000 mark in bandwidth.

Everest is another PC benchmarking utility that is capable of individually benchmarking memory. More gains in Everest, with 5.3% in Read scores, 3.9% in Write scores, 8.5% in Latency.

Conclusion:

This is some fast RAM, there is no doubt about that.  Being able to clock it so high on just 2.8V is superb for any module, almost unheard of.  While performance during gaming did not show any real advantage, OCZ knows these modules aren’t just for gamers.   These are for the hard-core overclockers that want bragging rights, and a pair of modules that won’t hold back their overclocking ventures.  In fact, I was not able to push these sticks as far as I had hoped because my Opteron 170 would not pass through the 275 mark no matter what.  There is no doubt that these would blow the doors off your run of the mill DDR400 2GB kit.  What really adds value to this kit is knowing that OCZ will support it if you have any issues, even if you are hardcore overclocking up to a maximum voltage of 3.045V.
