Ballistix Performance Memory from Crucial

Test System

     For this review I'll be using ABIT's AA8 DuraMAX motherboard which is based on Intel's 925X Express chipset.

Hardware Model
Motherboard: ABIT AA8 DuraMAX
CPU: Intel Pentium 4
2.8GHz (800MHz)
LGA-775
Video Card: ABIT Radeon RX600XT-PCIE
Memory: Crucial Ballistix
DDR2 PC2-5300
CL=4

Testing - SiSoft Sandra

     Benchmarking will be accomplished by using SiSoft Sandra. As far as settings goes, the ABIT AA8 has some awesome settings for maximizing the performance of the DDR2. Besides the normal bus speed locks, the AA8 has a CPU to Memory ratio setting that works great. I'll start out at a ratio of 1:1 and work my way up to 2:3.

SiSoft Sandra Memory Bench (higher score is better)
1:1 - 200MHz

3:4 - 200/266MHz

2:3 - 200/300MHz

     The CPU:Memory ratio setting is one of the best features I've seen on an Intel board to date. I've seen some motherboards with a similar setting, but it never really worked, and when it did, it did little for performance. Crucial's DDR2 and ABIT AA8 makes tweaking and overclocking a lot of fun... Speaking of overclocking, let's see what happens when we start increasing the bus speed.
