Conclusion

After seeing those benchmarks, I'm still speechless. After all, what's left to say when a pair of hard drives rip out a 149,120kbytes/sec benchmark. To recap, here's a chart showing the HD Tach benchmarks. I also tossed in a SATA RAID benchmark for comparison.

SCSI RAID is awesome, just remember to choose your hardware wisely. SCSI RAID may be overkill for some small business, but in some cases, a single RAID array isn't enough. Remember to plan ahead as well. SCSI is by far easier to expand than IDE RAID. With IDE RAID, you are normally limited to 4 hard drives per interface card. With SCSI, you can expand up to 15 devices per channel which is not just limited to hard drives only. This gives you far more room for data redundancy as well.

Overall, the Cheetah 15K.3 hard drives are the fastest I've tested to date. Even in single drive configuration, these hard drives are incredibly fast. When in RAID, hang on tight!
