Software
The
Seagate external drive comes with a handy program called "BounceBack".
BounceBack is an easy to use program that enables you to schedule
backups of your hard drive(s). It takes quite a while to back up a
standard size hard
drive, even longer if you have a lot of games installed, but it's worth the effort.

Benchmarks
For
testing I'll be using two separate systems; one based on an AMD Athlon
64 3GHz CPU and the other is based on an Intel Pentium 4 3GHz CPU. Due
to the speed of USB and USB 2.0, don't expect to see high numbers like
you would see on an internal hard drive. Here are the results:

Pentium 4 System

Athlon 64 System
Conclusion
Although the speed of external USB hard drives are a bit slow, having
400 gigs of backup storage space is simply awesome. Although the power
supply and cable can be clumsy when transporting the drive from place to
place, it is good to know that any Windows 2000/XP machine will
recognize the drive automatically without installing extra drivers from
a disk. At 400gb, the Seagate External Hard Drive is the ultimate
external storage solution for any home or office! ClubOC recommended...
