The external drive is fairly compact, it's about the size of a small CD case. Okay, it's not as small as those 1gb flash drives that you can wear around your next or use as a keychain, but this baby holds 400 gigabytes of software goodness. This baby could hold your entire MP3 collection, maybe more. The quality and design is top notch. I have no doubt that this drive could take quite a beating and still keep functioning.

The unit comes with a power supply and cables for firewire and USB 2.0. I'm glad the power supply comes with the unit as a standard, but it's too bad it has to have a power supply at all. It would be very nice if the unit could draw enough power off of the USB connector alone, but that's one of the downfalls of USB.

Tucked neatly in the back is all the connectors for firewire, USB, and power.

The front of the drive houses the "push button backup". All this does is kick on program that backs up your system. Of course using the device as a backup drive is totally optional. You can use the external drive for whatever you like.

One side of the drive has a large rubber ring as shown in the picture above. This ring keeps the drives from moving around if used in a stacked configuration.
