Seagate has become the industry leader in PC storage by offering technologies like Perpendicular Recording backed with their outstanding 5 year warranty.  Now Seagate brings the same innovation to the 2.5' drives with the Momentus 7200.2 series hard drives.  With both 7200 RPMs and SATA 3Gb/s under the hood, this promises to be the top laptop drive on the market.  We put their 160 GB to the test for you right here!

Product Description

The Seagate Momentus™ 7200.2 is a 2.5-inch, 7200-RPM drive that has been designed to offer a combination of high performance and capacity to the 2.5" drive market. The Momentus 7200.2 is also a great fit in specific non-PC applications, including non-mission-critical blade servers, external storage devices and small form factor PCs.

Additional Features

  • 7200 RPM spin speed provides the highest available laptop performance, increasing system productivity approximately 25 percent over that of 5400 RPM drives.

  • SATA 3Gb/s interface with Native Command Queuing (NCQ), the fastest interface option available today, enhances system performance levels.

  • G-Force Protection™. optional Seagate freefall sensor technology, protects data when accidental drops or bumps occur.

  • Low power consumption maximizes battery life and lets users work longer.

  • Perpendicular recording technology enhances data reliability.

  • 5-Year limited warranty.

SATA 3.0 often referred to as SATA II or SATA/300 represents the latest generation of the SATA family.  Offering speeds up to 300 MBps and moving at more than twice the speed of traditional ATA devices, the SATA standard is well on course to making the traditional PATA interface obsolete.  The advantages of the SATA 3.0 interface include more than just speed but also the ability to prioritize requests to optimize response times through NCQ.  The SATA 3.0 standard is widely expected to become the dominant interface and to remain so for the foreseeable future.
