Immediately out of the box I could tell this was a product of high quality. The product case is produced from aluminum with a plastic front and back. Of course I'd love to have an all aluminum product, but Kingwin is obviously trying to keep the cost down and at the same time provide a high quality product. After playing around with the KF-3000 I feel confident that this product will last the test of time.

Kingwin used solid aluminum sides for mounting inside a computer case. This is a good move since experience tells me that plastic just doesn't work here as the threads always strip out over time.

The back side of the device is all high impact plastic, which is perfectly acceptable. The KF-3000 even has 2 40mm cooling fans to help keep the heat down produced from 3 hard drives.

One of the nice features of this the KF-3000 is that it has hard drive LEDs for all three hard drives. The cables Kingwin provides have a 2-pin hard drive wire that plugs into the back of the KF-3000. I'm a little confused as to why Kingwin choose not to wire the LEDs internally, but I can deal with the extra wires.

Here we have the power and SATA ports for each hard drive. Kingwin provides 3 custom cables to use with the KF-3000 that also has the HDD LED cables built in, however you may choose to use your own cables but you will loose the HDD LED feature of the device.

After installing the device and dealing with the extra cables, it would be nice to see the next revision of this device with a single power port instead of 3 for the hard drives and 1 for the device itself. I would also like to see the wiring for the HDD LEDs built into the device. Of course this would probably drive up the cost of the KF-3000, but it would be nice.
