Logitech Cordless Controller for Xbox

One thing I hate most about having so many consoles in my house is all the wires.  Okay so that really is the only thing I hate about it.  It seems that once I get all the wires looking like there hasn’t been a recent apocalypse something happens and they all have to be moved again.  That’s only with the back and then you have the roommate, two cats and two dogs traipsing back and forth in front of the TV while playing.  Instead of concentrating on killing the big bad boss I am stuck holding my breath hoping someone doesn’t trip over the controller cord. That was my life until I found the Logitech Cordless controller for the Xbox!

Here is what you get in the package plus your first set of 4 AA batteries.

Technical Specifications:

  • Have complete freedom of movement with a 50-foot range
  • Feel the hits, crashes, explosions and many more effects with vibration feedback
  • Dual analog mini-joysticks, D-pad, eight pressure-sensitive buttons
  • Enjoy 50-plus hours of battery life

Notice that the expandable memory Xbox memory unit goes into the receiver and not the controller.

The Logitech controller maintains the sleek design of the S controller.  Although it is bigger then the S controller, it still is not as big as the original Xbox controller.  It does weigh a considerable amount more then the regular controller due to the batteries though.  After an hour of game play, I didn’t feel any real fatigue due to the differences in controllers.  Here is an example of the difference in size between the two.

All you need to do to get started is simply insert the batteries into the controller, plug the receiver and push the connect button.  You are now ready to play, yes it is that simple.  Here it is hooked up to my Mt. Dew Xbox that the guys of the forum helped me get.

In Conclusion:

I must say when Logitech says a 50 foot range they mean it, even if it is the other side of my house.  Also no matter where I was sitting in the living room the controller responded perfectly without delay. I have two major concerns with the controller though. First is the weight difference, while it may not matter to most it may cause fatigue to the wrist with extensive game play.  Another thing I should point out is that the buttons are a little tricky to get used to for those of us with smaller hands and a little stretching is involved.  Overall though I highly recommend this product to any avid gamer who want to be more into the game rather then worrying about who or what is going to trip over the controller cord next.
