Just a mere four months ago, we took a look at the new lineup of Kingwin CPU coolers, and yet already, Kingwin has a new product, ready to unleash on the market.  So what has Kingwin done to further garner our attention?  How about release an all-in-one one-of-a-kind air-water hybrid CPU cooler?  That is exactly what they have done.

So, what exactly does an air-water hybrid cooler entail?  Well, first let us go over what it doesn’t entail. It doesn’t entail assembly, it doesn’t entail loops, and it definitely doesn’t entail dealing with the fluid.  What it does have is water cooling system fully integrated into an air cooling system.  How is this accomplished?  Instead of a just regular copper heatpipes, Kingwin has implemented heatpipes that are filled with antifreeze pushed around via a small pump.

So then, the obvious question now is, does it work?  Read on, and find out!

Out of Box experience:

The retail package for the Gladiator shows off both versions of the heatsink, which comes in chrome and black. The packaging is attractive and effective.

The side of the box clearly shows the contents, as well as installation directions for the various sockets.

The other side shows off the various features that Kingwin claims for their product.

Upon opening, we see that the Gladiator is packed with styrofoam on one side, as well as top and bottom.

Here we get a good first look at the Gladiator, as well as the included contents.  Included is all the hardware necessary for mounting in all the modern sockets.

Now to take a closer look at the heatsink itself.  What we see on this side is the pump and reservoir.  This appears to be identical to the pump setup used in the Evercool Silver Knight cooler.  If you look closely, you can see the inlet at the bottom of the reservoir where the water is pumped up to the heatpipe at the top right, circulated through the system, and finally returned at the top left.

Turning the heatsink to the right, we get a good look at the fan.  The fan is a stylized 100x100x25mm type with a long lasting fluid bearing.  I gotta say, the fan looks good.
