Crucial System Scanner

The retail box is decked out with the eye catching red and black in a really contrasting pattern. In the center we can see the top of the Lion Square cooler, but its that mantra at the bottom of the box that has my attention. "Great Cooling Choice for Quad-Core Overclocking" That's a pretty bold statement even if we were going to try this with a Yorkfield series quad core. Well, first we have to get this thing on a processor before we see how it performs.

If you're mounting this with an AMD processor/motherboard combination, all you need to worry about is this hook adapter. Pretty simple and straight forward and you'll even be able to remove the heatsink without taking out your motherboard.

Intel owners....not so much! While most of us prefer a rugged bolt-through-board design, it doesn't let us remove the heatsink without pulling the motherboard. Although, the anchor brace for the mount does have a small section of adhesive (see the white square around the center) that could let it stick to the back of the board, don't get your hopes up.

Since I'm going to test this on an Intel setup, some assembly will be required. Aside from putting the bracket on the back of the motherboard, the spring-loaded mounting bolts will need to be attached to the base of the Lion Square. Two screws on each bracket is all it takes, and you can see that process being wrapped up in the above picture.
