3DMark CPU Tests For a closer look at CPU gaming performance, we are going to specifically look at the CPU testing portion of 3DMark06 and 3DMark Vantage. Higher scores are better in both tests.
The fun thing about lining up the X3 720 against the E8400 is that the AMD chip has a pretty good shot of beating up on the E8400 in any multithreaded test. Here is no difference, the X3 thoroughly trounces the E8400. The 810 doesn't do too bad either, especially with a hefty overclock.
The 3DMark Vantage benchmark does tend to show a bit more preference to the Core architecture, this time putting the emulated Q8200 over the X4 810 at stock speeds. The X3 still handily smokes the E8400, however.
