AMD Socket AM3: X2 550 Black Edition
Review
Testing Methodology
In order to test the X2 550, we are going to reuse
several of our test results from the
Phenom II 940 and
Phenom II AM3 reviews. This means for our
results, we have the X4 940, X4 955, X3 720, X4 810 from AMD as well as an x3360 and an E8400
for the Intel side. Since I expect the X2 with the unlocked
cores to perform similarly to the X4 955, we will be only testing
two cores on the X2.

In the case of the x3360, we clocked it down to
7x333 to run it at 2.33GHz in an attempt to best emulate the closest
cost competitor to the X4 810. The Q8200 has significantly
less cache (4MB vs. 12MB) than the x3360, however, so it is
important to realize that the "emulated" testing of the x3360
represents the best possible scenario for the Q8200.
Now, let's get on with the results, shall we?
