Testing
I
tried out the fans in my main system which is already equipped with a
dual light mod. A quick swap with a pair of UV lights and I was all set.
Here is what the fans look like with the UV light behind them.
Now
that's the coolest thing I've seen since the light mod! Once again,
these fans do not contain lights or LEDs, they simple react to the ultra
violet light. However, the Spectrum series is available with built in
UV lights. This is definitely an option you may want to consider if
you don't already have a UV light mod. As far as pushing air, 39cfm at
2900rpms is pretty good. Plus they are not noticeably loud and appear to
be very well balanced. Everything a good cooling fan should be and more!
Conclusion
As
with all other Vantec products I've reviewed this year, I'm thoroughly
impressed. I don't care if you are a modding fanatic or not, you have to
agree that the pictures above are pretty damn cool... If the pictures
look that good, just think how good these fans look in real life! I even
pulled my Jimi Hendrix CD off the shelf, warmed up the lava lamps, turn
the lights out and sat and stared at the fans for hours...
Okay,
maybe it was only a short time until the wife came in and asked me what
the hell I was doing...but it was fun while it lasted!
Okay, back to reality. The Vantec Spectrum UV Fans may not be for
everyone, but they are a must have for those with UV light mods. If you
are even considering going with a UV light mod, you have got to pick up
some of these fans along with the UV light!
