Cooler Master - AMMO 533

Computer cases come in so many shapes and sizes now, but it's pretty obvious that Cooler Master built this one for folks who do more than just surf the web. The Ammo has been decorated quite generously, looking like it belongs on the set of a James Bond movie. But the Ammo remains very functional, in every definition of the word. Gamers hardware usually requires a little more than a 80mm fan to keep comfortable. Cooler Master has ventilated the case with two large grated openings (outlined in silver) on the side panel, as well as a very large group of openings on the front. While most tower style cases use an 80mm fan on the front for air intake, Cooler Master went with a 120mm blue LED fan. More ventilation and an accent to decoration!

Of course, it wouldn't do the case any justice if only one side was decorated. So, Cooler Master rounded out the image with some block style stenciling to complete the look. The HD and PSU stencils are located where their respective (Power Supply Unit and Hard Drive) components will be located in the enclosure. The handy "this end up" arrow will probably come in handy for folks suffering from LAN party induced sleep deprivation.

The power and reset buttons are on the top and have labeled guards that spin. I have a couple of friends with children who will absolutely LOVE this feature. The power LED and IDE activity LED are there, between the power and reset buttons. Here, we also get a good look at the way Cooler Master has mounted the very comfortable carrying handle. The handle itself is made from a very solid rubber and the nylon straps are more than thick enough to support load.

One last thing about the outside, before we start looking at the inside. This is a close up up the Audio hook-ups and Firewire/USB connectors. They are located on the right side near the front, which is becoming a pretty popular place these days. The audio ports i can see, and even the Firewire to a certian degree. However, I really wish we could get more USB ports added up front. Most motherboards have headers for at least two groups of USB ports. I would rather have them up front on the enclosure than have to route a messy expansion port USB bracket.
